If you like partying with your friends, going to bars, and getting wasted, but don't really like the idea of spending 100 dollars every weekend on a bar tab, you've got some options.
Obviously, Pre-gaming is pretty much a necessity.
No matter where you live, you're going to save about 300-500% on drinking before you get to the bar. Even at a crappy, cheap college bar, a shot can cost around 5 dollars. Beers can be at least a few dollars (over 5 if you live in a bigger city). This basically means you're going to drop 20 dollars just to get a buzz. 20 Dollars is a pint of liquor and a case of beer from a gas station. The key to successful pre-gaming is drinking to the point where you're feeling good, but can still functionally make it to the bar.
Also, bring a flask. Yes, that might seem pretty damn shady or cheap to be drinking a flask at a bar - But realize this: mostly everyone there is wasted. If you're going out for drinks with a girl you're into, this should obviously be reconsidered. However, you may be surprised to find out that instead of getting weird looks you're going to be showered with praise for the idea from every drunk person you come across. Odds are people are even going to be trying to hit you up for a swig. If you bring 5 or 6 shots in a flask to get drunk at a bar, while sipping a beer you have as a token hand item, you're going to instantly save 30 dollars. It's also a great way to maintain between bars.
A fourth, and more roundabout way of getting cheap booze is just to create it. You can find dozens of guides on how to easily make homemade wine from dirt cheap grocery store ingredients all over the internet. The steps are simple and you can often find the stuff laying around the house. Tradeoff: You're going to have a killer hangover
